Description

Enhancing Energy Efficiency of Public Facilities in Kyrgyzstan aimed to conduct energy audits and identify technical implementation options for improving the energy efficiency of selected school facilities in the Kyrgyz Republic. As part of the technical assistance, a guideline was prepared to incorporate energy efficiency improvements into seismic retrofitting and reconstruction under the State Program for Safer Schools and Preschools.

 

Activities supported by the World Bank

  • Analysis of the energy efficiency of selected school facilities, including by conducting investment-grade energy audits of schools

  • Provision of technical recommendations for the design of energy efficiency upgrades for school facilities at the pre-feasibility study level, including analysis of expected costs and benefits

  • Contribution of technical expertise on how to establish a school infrastructure baseline

  • Provision of information on coal-alternative energy sources in school buildings

  • Provision of technical recommendations to guide the preparation of interventions and a strategy for estimating costs to improve the energy efficiency of school facilities nationwide

 

Main outputs

  • Energy and phone audits of approximately 25 eligible schools and 20 prioritized schools
